It’s important for rapidly growing companies to maintain their core values as they scale. Acquiring a talented leader who fits our culture, and is a recognized change agent for digital transformation across regulated industries and within the Federal government, with the ability to bring immediate insights to our business is invaluable. Tom Sampson is a force multiplier to help CloudFit go faster and further on our journey.
What does your career background look like? How did it lead you to where you are now?
I have spent the past twenty-two years as a Naval Officer, with the last twelve years in the reserves. Fifteen years of that time I have spent in IT consulting, delivery management, and executive leadership. The Navy gave me a lot of exposure to leadership and warfighting platforms but also started me in training system [simulators] development, which as systems of databases, visual systems, networks, and user interfaces introduced me to information systems and technology launching me into what I do today.
What is your role at CloudFit Software?
As the Vice President for Federal and Regulated Industries my role is to lead the successful delivery and support of our products and services to DoD, Federal, State, and local customers as well as in the regulated industries. I am dedicated to supporting our teams as we serve our customers and continue to provide value.
What’s the best thing about your job?
Our customers and solutions. The capability in our platform and engagement teams married to what we can provide to our customers has the potential to meet so many needs, change how the government looks at operations and monitoring, and increase efficiency and effectiveness directly for the warfighter. Being able to engage with multiple federal customers and work on hard problems is rewarding in itself, let alone being able to provide the engine for digital transformations is awesome.
What surprised you most about working for CloudFit?
The people, hands down. I had worked with CloudFit as a customer prior to joining and knew the skills and engagement resident here. I was delighted to find out that the dedication, joy, and kindness is in each and every person here. Along with the personality of the teams, their knowledge and skillsets have allowed us to provide so many engagements for customers in so many venues. It is mind blowing.
What would you say is CloudFit’s biggest strength?
The capability of the CloudFit Software married to the experience we have racked up from implementing scenarios for so many clients in such a short period of time. This means we have out-of-the-box capability to plug and play monitoring for a multitude of solutions that can increase efficiency for major system integrators TODAY. Then the skills of our people are able to ID and implement new scenarios quickly and feed that back to existing and future customers.
What’s been one of your proudest moments working at CloudFit?
Just being lucky enough to join this team and be part of something that will change IT for everyone.
What inspires you?
General George S. Patton and Admiral David Farragut.
What are five words (or a short sentence) of advice for others in your profession?
Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good enough.
What do you like to do when you’re not at the office?
I have a wonderful family, so a lot of my off time is dedicated to them (Cubscouts, anime, daddy-daughter time, and football & baseball practices). After that I enjoy movies and weightlifting. When I can watch a movie while weightlifting you won’t see me for a long time.
